About Us
Mark
Hugh
Mark is a specialist in Washington state
and local business, sales, and property taxes and his experience includes planning, compliance reviews, and tax incentives maximization
for all industries. He has represented hundreds of taxpayers at all levels,
from field auditors to administrative appeals with both the Washington Department
of Revenue and the Washington State Board of Tax Appeals.
Since 1993, he has taught thousands about state taxes for a variety of
groups, including accountants,
industry groups, attorneys, and legislators. He is the author and
instructor of Washington Business and Sales Taxes and various
other publications. He has worked with a variety of different industry
groups to create tax legislation to clarify and minimize state and local
taxes. He is a CPA, a graduate with honors from the University of
Washington, and holds a master’s degree in federal income taxation from
Golden Gate University. He is the winner of the Washington Society of
Certified Public Accountants award for Outstanding Discussion Leader and
the Society's award for Public Service. He was formerly a partner for eight years
with the nationally recognized accounting firm Clark Nuber in Bellevue
and was founder of that firm's state and local tax practice.
Mark is also a two-term board member of the Washington Society of
Certified Public Accountants and is currently the organization's
treasurer. He is also the author of Washington Professional Ethics
and teaches classes in professional ethics for CPA's in
Washington.
