State and Local Tax Useful Links
A variety of government agencies and organizations provide a wealth of free electronic resources regarding Washington State and local taxation.
The Washington State Department of Revenue The Department’s award winning site features a variety of information, including access to forms, special notices, reports, general tax information, databases, contact information, publications, and research tools. Also includes access to on-line services such as secure messaging for confidential tax information and the Department's electronic filing system.
Also from the Washington State Department of Revenue, this site provides access to the Department’s own internal tax research database. The free service contains laws, rules, Audit Directives, published tax determinations, Board of Tax Appeals cases, and decisions from the Appeals and Supreme Courts.
Local B&O Tax Statutes and Rules Over 40 cities in Washington impose their own local B&O tax and little, if any, conformity is required with Department of Revenue rules. Frequently this results in one tax treatment at the state level and a different tax treatment at the local level. Many city municipal tax codes are available online. For those not online, please call the Finance Department of that particular city.
Washington Property Ownership and Tax Records Most county assessors have robust web sites that allow you to search property records by address or parcel. Some even provide access to scanned copies of real estate excise tax affidavits and other records.
